Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Welder to join our team. The Welder will be responsible for interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, preparing materials, operating various welding equipment, and performing high-quality welds to meet project specifications and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, a steady hand, and a commitment to precision and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to understand project requirements and plan layouts and procedures.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment, methods, and materials based on job specifications (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick, Arc welding, oxy-acetylene welding).
- Prepare materials for welding by cutting, grinding, cleaning, and aligning metal surfaces using various tools (e.g., angle grinders, saws, calipers, rulers).
- Set up and operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments in various positions (flat, vertical, horizontal, overhead).
- Monitor the welding process to ensure proper penetration, avoid overheating, warping, shrinking, or distortion of material.
- Inspect completed welds for accuracy, quality, and defects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, industry standards (e.g., AWS, ASME), and safety regulations.
- Repair machinery, tools, and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on welding equipment and tools to ensure optimal and safe operation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face shields, gloves, and safety shoes.
- Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, fitters, and other team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
- Accurately record labor and material usage as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program or vocational training in welding.
- Proven experience as a Welder (e.g., 2+ years) in a similar role within manufacturing, construction, or a related industry.
- Proficiency in various welding techniques and equipment (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick, ARC).
- Experience in using electrical and manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and welding diagrams with high accuracy.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy and material properties.
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards and practices in welding.
- Valid welding certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Welder) are highly preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and correct flaws.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
